Abstract

This research has investigated the factors behind child labor in Dhaka city. This research is qualitative in nature and the basic descriptive data of my research was mainly based on journal articles, books and some web links. This research found out how future generations are losing their competences due to lack of consciousness which are very much interlinked with socio-economic vulnerability and cultural negligence as well. The situation analysis proved that factors of child labor (for example poverty, illiteracy and lack of health awareness) are causing poor mental health among street children. These very factors are common in some other developing countries like Bangladesh. This dispute holds another big platform in this research. Though Bangladesh did not approve the Minimum Age Convention, 1973 but the law of Bangladesh protests the system that allows young children to work which is questioning and need further clarification. In conclusion, this research also suggests some possible remedies’ that may help to overcome this area-specific crisis by focusing National Child Labor Elimination Policy, 2010 and argues that it is an urgent need to give prior concern on street children’s basic right and incorporates their singing while formulating further policy.
