KRIS IN TRADITIONAL MEDICATION OF MALAY FROM ISLAMIC PERSPECTIVE AS A CASE STUDY IN KELANTAN

Abstract

This paper will discuss the kris in traditional Malay medicine from the perspective of Islam as a case study in Kelantan. This paper will examine the kris as a ritual auxiliary tool for bomoh, shamans or handlers in traditional Malay medicine. This paper also examines the extent of the effectiveness of kris as one of the efforts of the bomoh, shamans or callers to call, summon and admire extraordinary powers to participate in ceremonies held by researching from the Islamic eyewear. This paper will examine the Islamic perception of the tools used by practitioners during the traditional Malay medicine rituals. In addition, this paper also examines the extent to which the surrounding Malay community believes that kris is fused with burning of incense and accompanied spells by a bomoh, shamans or handlers capable of expelling evil creatures from disrupting the condition of the patient's body and helping restore and cure the disorder evil spirits in certain rituals. This is because, most of the patients who get traditional Malay treatment of medicine recover their delusional disease. This paper also reviews the use of kris in the treatment of healing of the disease from the view of Islam. Hence, this paper is based on field studies, observations, interviews with traditional practitioners and complementary literature studies. Therefore, the documentation of the study can add to the source of scientific treasures for future generations references.
