ROLE OF THE MOSQUE AND THE TEACHING OF AQIDAH KNOWLEDGE IN ERADICATING THE POVERTY AMONG MUSLIM COMMUNITY

Abstract

The study is to review the teaching of aqidah at the mosque in the process of eradicating poverty among muslim communities. The mosque cannot only focus on the feqah, but also have to stress on Aqidah which relate to the faith. The problem is how far the mosque plays a role in the eradication poverty among muslim communities through the teaching of the aqidah. This study will find out the results. The main purpose of the study is to analyse whether aqidah knowledge is taught at the mosque. The other purpose is to see the effect aqidah towards the community which involve with the poverty. The topics related with to the poverty that have been proposed by the respondents will also be analysed. This study uses quantitative methods that are analyzed descriptively through SPSS software. Data were collected through a questionnaire consisting of 3 components, background and two variables. The findings are presented according to mean, frequency and percentage. The respondents are 200 with various backgrounds, ages, occupations, statuses, educations, kelantanese and non kelantanese who are working and studying in Kelantan. Majority of respondents agree that the mosque plays an important role in the process of eradicating the poverty. The result shows the same for agree and disagree about the topics discussed in the mosque related with the poverty. Meantime, the majority of the respondents agree that the poverty is mentioned in the teaching of aqidah. 5 topics related to the poverty proposed by respondents to be taught in mosques are listed. In short, this study guides the preachers to emphasize about the poverty in their teaching in order to eradicate the poverty among the muslim community
