INSTILLATION OF NAQLI AND AQLI: A STUDY ON SYARIAH AND LAW TAMHIDI PROGRAMME CURRICULUMS

Abstract

The objective of this study is to understand the instillation of Naqli and Aqli in AlMabadi’ Al-Fiqhiyyah curriculum as one of the main course offered for Syariah and Law Tamhidi Programme in Tamhidi Center USIM. This study is significant in the effort of academician to provide a unique curriculum inline with USIM strategic plan to be the Center of Reference for Naqli and Aqli knowledge by 2025. The approach used in this study is through interviews with the relevant experts and students surveys; particularly the students who are involved directly in Al-Mabadi’ Al-Fiqhiyyah curriculum. Two sets of questionaire were prepared based on the feasibility of the respondents to gather the information related to the objective study. Findings showed that Al-Mabadi’ Al-Fiqhiyyah in Syariah and Law Tamhidi Programme contains the elements of Naqli and Aqli. Results also demonstrated that the instillation of Naqli and Aqli in Al-Mabadi’ Al-Fiqhiyyah curriculum matches USIM philosophy. The study also recommended some improvements need to be implemented into the course modules and programme curriculum with the focus on courses offered in the second semester in order to strengthen the instillation of Naqli and Aqli knowledge. This study shall serve as the reference to the department and USIM as clarification for students, lecturers and the community with regards to the impact of the integration of Naqli and Aqli knowledge as the basis in building the students character and personality. In addition, the instillation can also contribute to the empowerment of self-development, community and the country ultimately. Finally, this study shall be the reference for further study with regards to the subject matter
