Abstract

The Friday sermon is a very important dakwah medium for Muslims. It becomes an effective vehicle for delivering important messages to audiences present. Friday's sermon should not only adequately complete the requirements and rules that have been outlined in the discipline of the fiqh field but must also fulfill the features of effective communication medium. Hadith as a second source of references is often the basic source of the integrity of the argument in the Friday sermon. The use of the language that conforms to the correct language, especially in the translation of the verses of the Quran and al-Hadith should be a must. This study focuses on the method in the translation of the hadith contained in the text of the Friday sermon of the Selangor Islamic Religious Department (JAIS) published in 2014- 2015. The translation theory used is the Semantic Communicative translation theory introduced by Peter Newmark. Based on the analysis of the hadith translation into the Malay language, the study of corpus hadis studies often use semantic approaches while also using communicative approach especially in figurative language elements.
