Abstract

Modern sports academies frequently rely on informal, manual administrative procedures, which introduce operational friction and scheduling overlaps. This paper discusses the development of the Surfing Class Booking System for the Cherating Surf Club, a major recreational provider in Pahang, Malaysia. Prior to system deployment, operations were primarily managed through WhatsApp, causing significant administrative redundancy, inconsistent manual payment records, and scheduling inaccuracies, particularly during unstable seasonal monsoons. Adopting an Adapted Waterfall Model, a centralised, role-based platform was designed and implemented using Laragon, phpMyAdmin, and Visual Studio Code. The system was empirically evaluated by 39 respondents, yielding an above-average System Usability Scale (SUS) score of 87.05, suggesting that participants generally perceived the system as usable. The system successfully modernises surf school management, though prospective enhancements like automated payment gateway refund integrations remain vital for broader scalability.
