The root causes of child labor in developing countries: A case study of the agricultural sector

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to examine the social demographic factors influencing child labour particularly in agricultural trade in Malaysia and a look at global trends in child labour. This research employs a qualitative research approach that entails survey together with self-generated global reports and quantitative analysis. The major goals found show that childhood necessities, no or meager school admission, and poor implementation of labour laws persist child labor in agriculture. There is also the necessity of policy aimed to eradicate the causes of children’s work, namely combat with poverty, rural educational facilities’ financing, and mandatory legal compliance in labor relations. Therefore, this research calls for multifaceted policy changes and grassroots approaches toward the eradications of child labor and support for sustainable agricultural improvements in Malaysia.
