Abstract

Corporate governance (CG) practise in higher education institutions (HEIs) is crucial for ensuring effective management, accountability, and transparency. This paper reviews  literature on the various aspects of corporate governance practices in HEIs, drawing on research from different contexts from various scholarly sources. Overall, the methodology involves a qualitative research design using document analysis approach. Furthermore, it identifies gaps in the current research, particularly the need for more cross-cultural comparisons and studies on the relationship between governance and HEIs’ performance. The findings offer valuable insights into the importance of effective CG in improving public administration performance, as well as the need for continued research in this field to refine governance models and practices within HEIs.
