Abstract

Numerous Malay scholars have made significant contributions and support to the Islamic intellectual development in the Malay Peninsula since the 16th century. However, previous studies rarely discussed Malay female scholars’ contributions due to the lack of exposure to Malay female scholars compared to Malay male scholars. Among them is Hajjah Khadijah, the daughter of a prominent Kelantanese Malay scholar, Tok Selehor. The objectives of this article are to expose her biography briefly and to present her contribution to Islamic studies development and writings especially in the states of Kelantan and Pahang. The design of this study is library research, and data collection is obtained from Jawi books, journal articles, books, and websites. Research findings show that Hajjah Khadijah has contributed to Islamic education and studies by conducting religious classes and lectures in Kelantan, Pahang, and Southern Thailand. Other than that, she also produced many Malay Jawi books on Islamic studies in the fields of Aqidah, Fiqh, Akhlak, Tasawuf, and Sirah.
