Abstract

Language experts and teachers have long been researching on the methods of designing good activities. However, not a framework has been constructed for designing appropriate activities. Design for learning is a popular conception these days since it aims to create supportable environment that facilitate learning. However, designing is never creating something brand new. Actually, it’s about selecting the existing elements, reconfiguring them and assembling into a new artefact. In the paper, according to the questionnaire for students, four elements, namely situation, gamification, competition and cooperation, should be taken into consideration when teachers design creative and effective activities. Teachers in practice should choose at least one or two elements to provide epistemic tasks promoting learning.
