STUDENTS’ WRITING SKILL WITH TECHNOLOGY IN MALAYSIAN SCHOOL: A BIBLIOMETRIC ANALYSIS (1987-2023)

Abstract

In general, Malaysians students are taught writing skills from a young age. As they progress, they are expected to develop and refine their writing abilities in various subjects and styles. The integration of digital tools and platforms has provided numerous benefits. Thus, students' writing skills have significantly improved with the advent of technologies. Technology has greatly impacted and enhanced students' writing skills by providing a range of tools and resources that foster creativity, collaboration, and personalized learning. So, this paper aims to study the trends of students' writing skills in Malaysian schools from year of 1987 to 2023. A bibliometric analysis has been done through literature search and past studies from Scopus database with a specific keyword search chosen. A total of 5,419 research articles on students' writing skills and technology were analyzed. From the analysis done, this study had figure out that the research trends of students’ writing skills between year 1987 to 2023 is insignificant and relatively unstable. Meanwhile, there are various motives and topics that are discussed and highlighted towards students' writing skills whithin stipulated year of the research. This study were also indentified and presented the authors, the affiliated organizations, the countries, and the co-citation status of the studies that are related to the students' writing skills. In conclusion, from 5,419 research articles analyzed, the highest number of the articles published towards students' writing skills was in year 2019-2020.
