METHODS FOR TEACHING THE HOLY QUR’AN IN THE SULTANATE OF OMAN

Abstract

In the Sultanate of Oman, the Holy Qur’an schools are affiliated to Ministry of Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs. They exist in all regions of the Sultanate. There the students recite and study the Holy Qur’an by heart with accordance to the annual calendar which has already been prepared by the Ministry. Because of the shortage in number of people who memorize as well as the shortage of the perfect reciters of the Holy Qur’an, there has been a pressing need to study the causes that have led to this shortage so there are some questions of study resulted. For example, what are the reasons for the lack of memorizing the Holy Qur’an? What are the methods that are followed by the students of Qur'an schools tom memorize it? The aim of this study is to identify the followed method to memorize the Holy Qur’an and analyze the impact of this method on increasing the number of memorizers. This research is considered an analytical study. from analyzing the data, it is obvious that there must be a clear plan to which the memorizer of the depends on, because there must be a clear plan that the memorizer will follow so that they can particularize the amount of the Holy Qur’an to be memorized and revised on a daily bases.
