Abstract

The Study was aimed in examining the perception and the implementation of Islamization of Knowledge among the university lecturers in Nigeria. There are different perceptions among the lecturers on how to implement the islamization on knowledge and the possible ways to be followed. The concept of islamazation of knowledge was aims to address the educational challenges of Islamic Studies and its methodology in the Nigeria context. The study adopted the qualitative method of research, whereas relevant documents were consulted as structured interview was designed to ascertain the perceptions and the implementation of Islamization of Knowledge among the lecturers of Nigerian universities. The data were analyzed using thematic data analysis. The Paper conclude that the application of western knowledge leads to the spread of secular influence in the educational system of a nation, which in turn leads to the gradual loss of Islamic identity of the society. Therefore, the approach to the integration of Islamic knowledge and that of the West needs to be seen as an alternative for the society in leading their everyday lives based on the true teachings of Islam
