Abstract

Unfavourable workplace location is a common issue that has been around for decades in both public and private sectors in Malaysia as well as in many other nations. As a potential workplace stressor, this issue may impede job performance and productivity of the employees who are suffering from it. Besides, it can also cause a host of other secondary health, social, and economic problems which in turn will cost the organizations involved as well as the country. Many of these employees bear the intention to relocate and have submitted their applications to be transferred. Although mutual transfers can partially address this issue, to date there is no automatic matching system that can identify mutual transfer partners in existence to speed up the transfer process. Almost all related organizations process each transfer application individually, causing thousands of backlog cases. Hence, we introduce AMWRI as a means to accelerate the transfer process and reduce the number of sufferers rapidly. AMWRI is a webbased multilateral matching system that enables employees of the same job from different states/districts to initiate mutual geographic transfer. This system can work on bilateral to quadrilateral transfers among applicants. With this system being in place, we can therefore reduce the direct and indirect negative impact caused by this issue.
