EFFECTIVENESS OF ORGANIZATION COMMUNICATION: A STUDY AMONG CIVIL SERVANTS AT UNIVERSITY MALAYSIA TERENGGANU (UMT)

Abstract

The purpose of the study was to examine the effectiveness of organization communication in human resource management at University Malaysia Terengganu. In organization, clear communication among workers is very important as it give impact to the effectiveness of organizational outcomes which is, organizational commitment. Transformational leadership and information communication technology (ICT) are two independent variables and organizational commitment is dependent variable which are being used in the research study. For information, the critics within leadership theories still arise and need to be modifies to become more applicable in meeting more challenges from all aspects. Additionally, communication in organization among staffs still poor due some pitfalls of ICT. Olaniran et al. (2009) state that social media and Web 2.0 has growing rapidly and most people are aware of this developing technology. However, when it comes to the issues of cultural boundaries, it reflects the negative effects towards the technologies and it is due to the people who cannot adapt the technology provided. The theory used in the research study is Full Range Leadership Model which includes transformational, transactional and laissez-faire leadership and Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) is used to measure the effect of perceived use and usefulness on user’s attitude toward adoption on new technologies such as media social and system. Thus, the research study should be conduct to determine the relationship between transformational leadership and information communication technologies towards organizational commitment at UMT. Pilot test was conducted toward thirty (30) non-academic staffs at UMT consists of male and female which involves five (5) departments for validation process. Quantitative method is used which is, questionnaires was distributed in the pilot test and well prepared in two language which are English and Malay. Two types of measurement scales also is used in the questionnaires consists of nominal and ordinal and Likert scale which provides 5-point scale. Data obtained for pilot test was analyzed using SPSS version 25.0. The results of Cronbach’s alpha for every variables which are transformational leadership=0.66,ICT (media social) =0.95, ICT (system)=0.77 and organizational commitment=0.65. Generally, the result of reliability analysis can be accept for further research study.
