Abstract

The objective of the current study is to examine the relationship of green supply chain management practices as antecedent of green performance and competitive advantage as outcome of green performance in the context of ready-made garment industry in Bangladesh. Green supply chain was measured in terms of internal environmental management, eco-design, green purchase and green information system. Data were collected through structured questionnaire gleaned from literatures and 215 questionnaires were found useable for data analysis. The data were examined using partial least squares (PLS), second-generation structural modeling software. The result of the study indicated that eco-design, green purchase and internal environmental management all have positive significant relationship with green performance. Whereas, one dimension of green supply chain management (green information system) was found insignificant with green performance. On the other hand, green performance showed a positive significant relationship with competitive advantage. Therefore, ready-made garment organizations need to focus on green practices for the environmental concern as well as to attain competitive advantage in local and global market.
