The organization's ability to accomplish its aims and objectives depends heavily on its employees. This study aims to examine the mediating effect of learning organization on the relationship between training and development and organizational performance to fill the gap in literature. Data for this study was collected through questionnaires from academic and non-academic employees working in private universities in Sudan. The data was analyzed using SPSS. The results indicate that training and development affect organizational performance. In addition, learning organization mediate the relationship between training & development and organizational performance. Therefore, training and development is necessary for university performance. Employees who had undergone training and development had higher job satisfaction, greater commitment to the organization, and higher performance than those who had not. This proves that training and development can help universities perform better. Additionally, universities should consider learning organization as a discipline to improve organizations and achieve competitive advantage. By introducing learning organization as a discipline, universities can foster a culture of continuous learning and competency development, which can, in turn, improve organizational performance. Discussions on the study's findings and future studies are also included.
