INTELLECTUAL CAPITAL MANAGEMENT PERSPECTIVES: A BIBLIOMETRIC APPROACH

Abstract

A bibliometric analysis was conducted in this study by using 394 articles in the field of Intellectual Capital (IC) and Intellectual Capital Management (IC Management) from the SCOPUS database from 2018 to June 2023. To provide a comprehensive and holistic result, this study embarked in leveraging the VOS Viewer software to structure the networks for co-citation network analysis by cited authors and bibliographic coupling by sources of articles. The results indicated a fluctuating trend of published articles in between the span of years however had a growth of 16% from 2021 to 2022 as IC gained attention from industry practitioners and academicians globally turned focus on intangible assets. In the co-citation analysis, it can be analysed that IC management, measurements, and new emerging themes such as leadership and Big Data aspects were fundamental issues discussed in the IC management domain. The Journal of Intellectual Capital, Sustainability Switzerland and Technological Forecasting and Social Change are top journals with the highest articles published across the time span specifically in the domain of IC and IC management.
